The final butterfly (Pumpkin) was set free today! The kids are already asking what the next class pet is going to be. We had fun watching our butterflies grow, but I think for now we will be a pet free classroom.
Before every math lesson we have been working on our "count by's". These help the kids with their multiplication fluency and add some dancing and singing before we get our lesson started. They have loved using these videos. I really think they are helping them to learn their count by's without them even realizing it! I told them I would put them on the blog so they could share them with their families.
"There's only one you in this big world, make it a better place."
Over the last week we have really focused on being the best versions of ourselves! We have talked about being more "awesome" as Kid President would say, and what we are teaching the world that will make it a better place. Today we read the book "Only One You" which features beautifully painted rocks that look like fish. We then created our own personal rocks, and started brainstorming what we could do to make the world a better place. Next week we will start writers workshop and create our own paper about this topic! Here are a few pictures of our rocks. Have your child show you which one is theirs! They turned out awesome.
Our math lesson today taught us how to make arrays! Why do a worksheet when you can use fruit loops?! Check out our math problems and have your kids show you what they learned at home with fun objects for review.
We had SO much fun today with our team challenge!!
Make sure to ask your kids to see their "Can you save Sammy" packet and ask them how they did! I could not believe the teamwork and kindness our class showed during this activity. It was wonderful to see!! Check out some pictures I took. For those of you using the Remind app, I will be sending you some videos and individual pictures if I have them.
This week flew by and we were able to do so many fun activities to get to know each other and grow as a class. My personal favorite from today was interviewing classmates! They got the chance to interview a classmate and prepare a skit to show off and introduce their classmate, all while dressed up with fake mustaches and silly glasses! Check out some of the pictures taken today!
